I haven’t had time to get a lot of my thoughts online lately because I have been really busy with slowing myself down the last couple weeks. I will probably not be updating this blog for the rest of the summer unless something really interesting or striking happens that I feel the need to write about. For the last couple months its been great to have an online journal like this to sort through things, but once summer rolls around I get really busy doing things as well as reflecting on them. Some of the things occupying my time this summer are a few Survivor Charity events, training for some 5k’s and 10k’s, and drawing like mad to finish up the second 120 page chapter of my comic book.
I am really excited to get back into shape this summer after not really caring about my physical fitness last year. I have started running everyday between 3-5 miles and am hoping to increase that distance as the summer continues on. This past Memorial Day I decided to drive back to the old ice cream shop in Hell, Michigan and go for an extended forest run. It felt exhilarating to get back to some really awesome trail running on the Potawatomi where I grew up. As soon as I got on the trails again I felt all the memories I had from running in highschool returning to me, like opening a map that had been rolled up in the back of my mind.
It feels great to be running outside in the warm air again and taking a swim in a random lake or river along the way. I took a week or two away from as much of the digital world as possible in April, and I think it turned out for the best. I started getting back into reading actual books, attending more events in and around Ann Arbor, and meeting with people face to face as opposed to their online equivalents. I am trying to get more focused on the here and now which lasts a lot longer then the ADHD of the internet.
Please, don’t post a comment here. I’ll be at the lake!
